Just stunning..Always fancy doers.
What a year…New places, streets, foods&drinks and new tunes. Back at the beginning we had a bad start but then 2011 turns out to be a great year for me.
This one’s goes to the tunes section.Check out my 2011 album picks on the Hype Machine.

PS: Well well, it’s been a long time since I blogged [1 year, eh!?]. So much happened, not gonna dig in to that. Just hoping to write often in here.

Last Tuesday Woostercollective’s book Trespass: A History of Uncomissioned Urban Art had it’s official book launch at the Taschen store in Paris.
“Trespass: A History of Uncommissioned Urban Art” is a new TASCHEN book about the history of graffiti and unsanctioned art, written by Carlo McCormick of Paper Magazine, curated by Marc and Sara Schiller of Wooster Collective and edited by Ethel Seno that comes out in September and is now available for pre-order.
I’m really into Taschen’s books, especially the one’s about both art and street art.I’ve never been to Paris but if I had the chance one day, will definitely visit Taschen’s flagship store. Below you can see the store’s inside and have an opinion.

Back to the event…During the event - a few lucky bastards- had chance to see new artworks from a range of creative French artists including Blek La Rat, INVADER, JR,Zevs and Alexone.
You may recognize INVADER from Banksy’s latest movie ( which I had the chance to watch it on Istanbul Movie Festival and wrote a review how I missed the premiere in London) Exit Through the Gift Shop. By the way he is the cousin of movie’s hidden superstar Mr.Brainwash.

Here is a video introduction to Trespass: A History of Uncommissioned Urban Art featuring interviews by Marc and Sara Schiller (Wooster Collective) Carlo McCormick, WK Interact, Anne Pasternak, Martha Cooper.
I really don’t get what’s happening in ai weiwei ’s mind but the result is just -Brilliant! He has filled the museum’s hall with millions of life-size (yeah, right) sunflowers which are made of porcelain. This installation encourages visitors to touch and walk on the carpet of tiny replicates. Oh I definitely want to walk on these things…

Cute!

The bike belongs to Frank Westfall from Syracuse, NY and the bike was originally built by O. Ray Courtney in 1936 and is based on a 1930 K.J Henderson. Darn this is so cool !!

I’m not sure who the artist behind this gorgeous Superman stencil but I guess the face is belong to Marty Mcfly. Seen at Lorimer stop in Williamsburg. via [A Brooklyn Art Critic’s Notebook]

Darth Vader doesn’t wake up at 7pm but I do. Infact, I get used to it and embrace the good old monday. Don’t fight back, this may lead you to something dark and scary. Instead of yelling to the mighty one put some great music on and brew coffee. Thats what I do… try Dee Edwards- why there can’t be love..you may recognize it from adidas commercial. Personally think that it fits great on a tarantino movie anway…let the week begin.
Oh, it’s so quiet. Probably one of the best monday mornings I’ve ever had in a long time. First I ran about 3 km ( ok let’s call it jogging ) and then sat down by the sea with the company of some seaguls. After giving myself to the sounds of waves head up to market to get orange-carrot juice mix— wicked—this may be the last monday morning as a “free” man so why shouldnt i have a good time by myself “dont stop me now, ‘coz im having a good time” as queen says :) cheer up Istanbul, everythings gonna be fine…

An incredible music video directed by L’Ogre for the band Hold Your Horses, in which the band members playfully reconstruct famous paintings! via curious brain
Last week I was in London for a short break with my girlfriend,Elif. Both of us are really into street art and stencils and because of this “passion” you can may call us “fanboys”.When I saw the news about the movie premiere, this was my reaction.
There’s much going on right now about Banksy, most of it about his way of art but recently all the heads turned to his pop-up cinema Lambeth Palace where the premiere of the movie called ”Exit Through The Gift Shop” takes place.
Timeout London take a deep look inside the place and they say “London’s newest, darkest and dirtiest cinema, Lambeth Palace, situated under hip intersection Waterloo train station and featuring surround sound street art, it will be showing Banksy’s film ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’ until March 4” but tickets are sold out, sorry.
Last week Banksy’s first film was given a red-carpet screening in the vast Berlinale Palast as part of the Berlin Film Festival and now it’s time for the homeland,London.A man in a gas mask was painting a red carpet outside of the Lambeth Palace, an abandoned tunnel under the Waterloo Station. Is it Banksy?! Not exactly, because even in the movie we will not see his face for a second.
“the Robin Hood of street art who refuses to be photographed and whose work is subversive and satirical. On the other, he is so lionised by the art world establishment “ Geofrey Macnab from the independent says. It’s not just he is one of the most famous British artists of the 21st century also he’s still remains anonymous with his art.
Anyway, the movie…It’s about following the antics of fellow graffitti artist Thierry Guetta ( big brother of David Guetta…kidding…seriously..) and he obsesses over Banksys work (who doesn’t?).He spent many years filming Banksys work and then turned into a street artist himself a.k.a. Mr.Brainwash (very sad).
Return to the Palace; Banksys pop up cinema has been described as the darkest and dirtiest cinema around by timeout crew but it has got plenty good stuff which will blind your eyes,I mean if you are a Banksy fan ( again, who doesn’t ).Stuff like the big grubb ice cream van and a large lion holding a microphone.Enough reading, check out these pics.

In 2008, I saw one of the works of Banksy with my own eyes, near the Archway station. But last time, I saw him on the spot lights, wow, big change for street art. Hope we could see it here in Istanbul otherwise in torrent we trust.
